Key Lime Mousse

This recipe's credit goes to my boyfriend's mom, she is a seriously amazing cook! I didn't know what to make for Christmas... since its a time when everyone is indulging, I wanted to stay a bit closer to the healthy side. In no time, she told me to make this Mousse. Quick, easy, delicious and widely loved! - Yasssss

This Key Lime Mousse, not only is super refreshing, its also deliciously amazing AND healthy. Any time you are craving something sweet, but don't want to ruin your diet, this is a great "cheat" meal!

The base for the recipe is fat free yogurt, which is great for your body and light in calories. Do you know what Yogurt is? It's the fermentation of the lactose, sugar present in the milk. The process produces Lactic Acid, the same substance that builds in your body after your work out and makes you feel sore.

Now, what are the benefits for your own body?
It contain high amounts of Calcium (great alternative for those who do not like milk or cheese), that contributes to the health of your teeth and bones.

Also found in Yogurt is Vitamin B, B12 and Riboflavin which are all essential for the caring of your Heart. It also provides Phosphorus, Magnesium, Potassium, which are great for keeping your blood levels regulated, production of energy, bone and cell formation, and nerve impulses.

Yogurt has high amounts of protein, making it a great snack full of useful calories. The main thing about buying Yogurt is finding a brand that does not Pasteurize their milk. Why? Because Yogurt is known and advertised as great for your digestive system, but only live bacteria or probiotics will aid in the digestion process. To make sure your yogurt contains the proper bacteria, make sure the label reads "Live" or "Active" Culture.

Ok, now to the recipe!
  • Lime Zest from 4 Limes
  • 7oz of Fresh Lime Juice
  • 16oz Fat Free Yogurt
  • 1 Can Condensed Milk
  • 1 Gelatin Powder Packet
This is the easiest recipe ever.

First, melt the powdered gelatin with a little bit of water on the microwave, for about 20 seconds. Set Aside.

Next step, add the lime juice to the yogurt, mix, add the zest, mix. Top the mixture with the condensed milk and gelatin. Mix until a homogeneous mixture and set in the fridge over night to set or serve chilled on the same day.

YUP! THAT easy.
